Well this isn't a buyer, but the seller sure was hard up. I always list my items fair, based on what similar items are selling for. I let them know in a round a bout way that I am interested, but I think the price is a bit high. The seller sets the price, so he gets what he wants. This usually works pretty well, and then both sides are happy. Most times I ask how much it will take for me to come and get it. If I feel it is high, I will try to be respectful and ask if their price is firm or not. I am willing to be fair, and if someone has their item priced at a fair price I will give them asking price. The ad is even the same, the only thing changed it the asking price. 4 months later, it is still listed on craigslist. I got an email back stating that it was sold, guy will be picking it up on the weekend. Plus, this car didn't have matched tires, 2 center caps on the wheels were missing, dents, etc. Then when I get it running, I am still taking a chance on the tranny and transfer case. But if injector is bad, thats another $400.

Still above $1500, so I may be interested. Include my time to swap it, and we chip away $700 from the value, to bring it to $1800. So, if it is a bad fuel pump, even if new, it will still have to be replaced, and a good quality one it about $600. They work fine in some cars, but some they just suck in. If he used an Airtex brand fuel pump, they have about a 24% failure rate right out of the box for blazers because the blazer is very picky about fuel pressure. you see, a Blazer of that year is worth about $2500 in this area.

I am still interested, but at this point need to know lots of information on the car first. And he doesn't know what fuel pump was installed. I get an email back stating that his price is firm and he knows what they are worth. I also ask what brand of fuel pump was used. I send out an email just asking if they are negotiable on price at all, and the overall condition of the car other then it not running. So, I am interested, but they want a lot more then what it is worth. Says they replaced the fuel pump and it still will not run, but will fire with starting fluid sprayed into it.
I came across a NON running Blazer, owner has no idea whats wrong with it. For example, I am always looking for cars in need of repair.

At the same time, I hate when someone thinks they have gold. If I wanted to give it away I would have posted it in the free section. I hate the people always wanting to get something for nothing. I will also take a check, but I always call the bank it is drawn on to verify funds and make sure they will pass it. I have seen where people try to pass fake $20's around since most people do not check them. I always use money check pens, on everything, even $5's.
